Gaga for GOA

Arambol beach, Goa
The trail to the beach from my hut.
I came to Arambol to do a yoga course at the Himayalan Iyengar Yoga Centre. This is one of their huts, which I booked  straight away for a week so that I could stay for the duration of my course.  On the first night that I was there,  someone tried to break in. I woke up and yelled, so they took off.  I later found out that they broke into the office of the yoga school.  Being a frugal backpacker, I decided I should just stick it out in the hut because I'd already paid for a week. After my second night and barely any sleep, I met Brittany (an Australian girl from the next hut) who wanted to ditch her hut as well and told me about the break in at the office. I guess everything happens for a reason - we went to find new accommodation that day  and have been travelling together ever since!
Enjoying the sunset with the cows :)

Delicious onion and potato paratha and an ice coffee
Rs 85 ($1.50 CAD)

This is one of the few pictures I have of my yoga course in arambol.  We spent 5 days doing iyengar yoga from 9am-12pm. Looking back, I wish I'd stayed another week at least. Leo Cuda is a fantastic teacher, by far one of my favourites!

Arambol beach

Sweet Water! A small lake hidden near the end of Arambol beach.

Past sweet water, there's a path that leads to a place with mud with ayurvedic properties. So we found it and covered ourselves with it!

This Indian man showed us all up. He covered his entire body in mud and then laid in the small  waterfall to rinse himself off.

View of sweet water and the ocean from the path.

My new home sweet home at Ivon's guesthouse.

The view from my room at Ivan's - one minute walk from the beach.

So the men in India, specifically on the beach, like to take pictures of woman, specifically foreign woman. They usually do it in a way that they think is discreet, but is distastefully obvious. One of the men in this picture came up and asked me if he could take a picture with me and at first I said "No". He asked me again, "Just one!" he said, so I made it clear to him that I would just because he asked me to. Once we took one photo, all of his friends started asking me for one as well.  Naturally I needed to get a picture of all these hooligans for myself. Of course they just laughed when I told them they had to give me Rs 50 for it!

To celebrate Diwali, I travelled to the city of Pune. This is the lovely Rath family who invited me into their home to experience what Diwali is all about. Thank you for everything!!

Ajanta & Ellora Caves

Ellora.....

I can't remember where I took this photo. It was at one of the stops  I  made after the Ellora Caves.

Daulatabad Fort......

One of the MANY Black Faced Monkeys hanging around.

The road to the fort....

On the way some ppl asked to take a photo of my friend and I,  I was the only white person there. While they were taking photos, my friend took a photo of them taking pictures of us.

Ajanta....

Ajanta caves are made up of almost 30 separate caves set into the side of the mountain. This is the view from Cave 1. Not all of the caves were accessible, I only entered about half of the caves.

Many of the caves had paintings inside....

Several of the caves had buddhas like this set inside.

Entrance to cave 19.
